Portrait of a Graduate

A picture of the most important skills and traits students will need to be successful in life, the Portrait of a Graduate is an important vision of where our students are headed.

How can we bridge the gap between high school graduation and what comes next?

  • Collective visions for student success
  • Outlines 21st Century Skills
  • Universal Expectations
  • Communication with all stakeholders of expectations
  • Measurable
  • Differentiated approach
  • Vertical and Alignment

The four pillars of a portrait of a graduate. These pillars are embedded through each student’s high school career and across curricula. The pillars are experienced in all elements at A-Tech High School.

The Four Pillars:

  1. Character (Personal Responsibility: Empathy, Caring and Global Citizen)
  2. Communication (Literacy: Reading, Writing, Speaking)
  3. Critical Thinking and Reasoning (Research)
  4. Career and Life Readiness (College / Career / Culturally Ready)

Data

The bedrock to assess and measure each and every student’s progress toward the four pillars. Each pillar consists of competencies that identify the necessary skills a student needs to to be ready in Character, Communication, Critical Thinking and Career and Life Ready. Instruction is differentiated to address each student’s unique needs.
