About the Program

Computer Science is problem solving and creative thinking. The opportunities in this field are constantly expanding, with gaming and app development evolving into a robust industry.  Students will learn the basic coding skills needed to pursue a host of post-secondary options in software engineering.  ATech students have the benefit of computer science professionals in their classrooms through our partnership with the TEALS organization. 

Course Sequence

  • Intro to Computer Science 1 with SNAP! 
  • Intro to Computer Science 2 with Python
  • AP Computer Science Principles (APCSP) 
  • Launched in 2016, the course introduces students to the foundational concepts of computer science and challenges them to explore how computing and technology can impact the world.
  • The AP Computer Science Principles course is designed with the goal of creating leaders in computer science fields and attracting and engaging those who are traditionally underrepresented with essential computing tools and multidisciplinary opportunities. While in our software engineering program students will also learn JavaScript, HTML and CSS

Features

  • Qualifying scores on the APCSP Exam can earn college credit
  • Students completing these courses may be able to skip intro level college CS coursework. 
  • We are working tirelessly with our partnerships in developing possible work-based learning opportunities. Through the engagement in the Computer Science Fairs, Hour of Code, and others, previous partnerships led to positions with Google
